All in One Piece

We thought you all would like to actually see we made it all in one piece. We went yesterday to see the 'Meeting of the Rivers' where the Tapajos River and the Amazon River come together. The Amazon is muddy and the Tapajos is absolutely clear. They stay separated for miles due to the difference in temperature and is amazing to see God's Creation.

We also had the opportunity to tour their water filtration systems and as you can imagine, water born diseases are killing are brothers and sisters in the Amazon River Basins at an alarming rate. These villages are a max of 200-300 people. Their sense of community is so great that something as simple as sharing the same cup can bring death and devastation to many. Our prayer is that the Hope Epedimic will impact this region and we can come alongside our fellow Christians to bring drinkable water as they share the news of living water.

We Have Our Mission

This morning we learned a little about the village we will be going to. We'll be leaving on Tuesday morning to a village 5 hours from Santarem on the Amazon River. We don't know the name and even if we did, not sure that the spelling would be right.

Anyhow, the village we are going to has a spirit of division on them with the church being built in the middle of two "subdivisions". The pastor there made an unpopular decision to put this there and we are praying and believing that Jesus will send this right back to the pits of hell.

The other major issue that is going on is idolatry. They have a mix of catholic saints with black magic spirits....should be a lot of fun to bring some Holy Spirit activity into this area. We are calling all our prayer warriors to intercede on the behalf of this village.

This afternoon we're headed out to see the city of Santarem and eat a little fish (Glenn excluded....his diet plan is Steak and Cake).

Arrival Day in Santarem

Great first day! We arrived at around 3pm & were greeted & picked up by our hosts (Don & Betty Best). Then chauferred to the PAZ compound where we unloaded & refreshed with showers. The Best's dedicated (she hasn't missed a day of work in 8 YEARS) and talented cook/housekeeper treated the mission team to a fabulous dinner of steak, mashed potatoes, sauteed carrots, rice, black beans, salad, & juices of the country. That was topped off with a surprise chocolate birthday cake for our bestest team member (& Germaine says most modest), Glenn! We (aka Glenn) will be having cake for breakfast also!



Germaine, Glenn, & Mike took an hour stroll through Santarem's fish market area. Everyone is back at the house relaxing and preparing for tomorrow. Sunday will start with a group Bible study, breakfast & an orientation. Then out for lunch at a local seafood restaurant before heading to the 5 pm worship service at a 35,000 member church where the atmosphere has been compared to a football game. Lots of young people on fire for Jesus! Don and Betty's accounts of how God has opened the hearts of a generation of Brazilians has us on fire too. Team members are gathering together in groups of two or more sharing how God has blessed our faithfulness. Know too that God will bless your faithfulness for the prayers and financial support that helped make this trip a reality. Reflecting on God's goodness is a great way to recharge after more than a day spent in airports and on planes! Ate amanha (until tomorrow)!

One More Step

We're on our last step to Santarem. After spending the last 6 hours in the airport at Manaus, we're ready for a good meal and some open are to relax in before hitting the river on Monday. The team is all excited and all luggage made it...PRAISE GOD!!!

Pray that our hearts are knitted together with the missionary team here and that we will step into divine appointments.

Down to the Wire

We are 18 days away from getting on the plane and heading down to Brazil and before you know it, we'll be back with great testimonies of God's work and blessings. The team is still short on our funds and we are praying and believing God will provide the $5400 we need at this point before the wheels pull up off the ground.

One of our teammates saw this provision today. Glenn Hair went for his routine check-up at the eye doctor and was chatting with the doc about the trip. When he went to walk out, the doctor said she would take 85 bucks off the cost so that he can put that in the kitty for the trip. GO GOD!!!
